I am a California licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), with a specialization in REBT techniques, offering psychotherapy to individuals, adolescents and couples. My office is located in the El Cerrito/Berkeley area, as well as over videotherapy platform.
I have always been fascinated by, and curious about, the human experience and how we bring awareness of belief systems to a deeper understanding of ourselves. In my work with individuals and couples, I find it is helpful to be compassionate and welcoming of our capacity for self-awareness and its impact on the ways we think, behave, and problem-solve. By offering a directive approach, providing insights and supporting our understanding of the emotional impact of our beliefs/thoughts, I support clients in finding their true voice and meaning in their lives and relationships.
A graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work in 2003, I have worked in various settings with adults, couples, youth and adolescents, including at a hospital in New York City for 9 years, with children and families coping with chronic illness. Through my training and work for the past 20 years, I utilize REBT techniques and a direct, rational approach to living and intentional growth.
I also work at Planned Parenthood Northern CA as the Director of Community Health, managing teams and developing programs that support and promote wellbeing in the following areas: mental health, education, and community health advocacy work. In this role, I’m engaged in addressing social determinants of health and working closely with colleagues to close inequity gaps and barriers to sexual and reproductive health care. I supervise therapists and Masters-level trainees who offer counseling to individuals seeking reproductive health care and to pregnant women with a number of mental health challenges. I have experience with clients and couples adjusting to pregnancy and the transition into parenthood.
I work with my clients collaboratively and approach my work with deep curiosity and compassion.
